Tata Tigor – Experience Drive and First Impressions
Sunday, March 19, 2017, Hyatt Andaz, Delhi
It was quite early on a Sunday morning in Delhi when a pride of Tata Tigor’s Stylebacks gently roared to life and the one in which we were sitting was the first to be flagged off.
Our destination was the Heritage Transport Museum, India’s first museum dedicated to the history and evolution of transport. The museum was situated at Tauru, near Manesar, Gurgaon. We were all set to get a first-hand experience of the stylish Tata Tigor Styleback, fresh from the stables of Tata Motors.
The Tata Tigor Styleback is a compact Sedan version of the Tata Tiago and the designers have left no stone unturned to ensure a sleek and stylish exterior with a visually appealing roofline gently flowing into the tail. The drive would take us through a varied terrain to facilitate an all round experience of driving the Tata Tigor Styleback.
We present here our driving experience of Tata Tigor Styleback and our first Impressions. We were part of the #TigorStyleback Blogger drive.
The events of the previous day had whetted our appetite to get a hands-on experience of the Tata Tigor Styleback.
Saturday, 18th March 2017, 1AQ and Hyatt Andaz, Delhi
Saturday had seen a flurry of activity at the 1AQ which was the venue for the curtain raiser of the Styleback Drive Experience. Coffee brewing sessions, Food curation, Styling, Perfumology and spray painting topped up with some rocking dance and music acted as a precursor to what was in the offing later in the evening and the next day.
Everything that was happening could be very simply summed up in one word, STYLE, and that was what the Tata Tigor Styleback was supposed to be, a car that allowed you to express yourself in your own style.
Later in the evening, we were treated to an impressive audio-visual presentation that told the fascinating story of the journey of the Tata Tigor Styleback from the drawing board to a full blown and live Tata Tigor Styleback that stood stylishly and seductively in front of us.
Some of the salient features that emerged from the product presentation were:
- The Tata Tigor will be available in both Diesel and Petrol versions
- Measuring 3992mm in length, 1677mm in width and 1537mm in height, the Tata Tigor is a compact Sedan, an ideal option for someone who is looking at a second car
- The Petrol version comes with 15-inch alloy wheels while the Diesel version has 14-inch wheels
- The Tata Tigor comes with 419 litre of Boot space, made available through some ingenious engineering which optimizes the space
- The interiors are tastefully done and the roof offers a good head room. There is a touchscreen infotainment system along with android based navigation system

After an early morning breakfast, we were off in our Tata Tigor, diesel version, and the sparse early morning traffic ensured that we made good speed as we left Delhi far behind.
The Navigation system in the car ensured that we were on track. We took turns behind the wheel as we sped away on a road that was flanked on both sides by lush green fields which wore a silvery sheen owing to the early morning dew.
We passed through some crowded villages and negotiated multiple road rumblers effectively as we eased the Tata Tigor over them. The charming green fields receded into the background as we drove up a slightly winding road that led us to a point where we could get a good view of the land lying below us. After a brief stop for some photo ops with the Tata Tigor, we were back in the saddle and zooming our way towards our rendezvous with the history of transportation at the Heritage Transport Museum. The Tata Tigor led us effectively and comfortably to our destination and we looked back at the car as we alighted. On our way back we would be taking a different car, it would be the Petrol version.
We spent a couple of hours lost in time as we moved around Heritage Transport Museum as if in a daze, looking at the fascinating exhibits that took us back in time. From the invention of the wheel and its use in transportation, we moved across time on a journey that captured the exciting times and feelings of auto makers like Ford. From Ambassador to Chevrolet and Ford, they were all there, in different shapes and colors, but all with one raison d’être, providing mobility to man.
We emerged from the museum, from the dark recesses of history into the brightness of the present and were greeted with the sight of a lineup of Tata Tigors waiting to transport us back to the Hyatt Andaz.
We climbed into a petrol version car and drove towards our destination. This time the route took us across an expressway and we zipped away in style. The ease of maneuverability of the Tata Tigor enabled us to glide through quickly back to our destination.
Takeaways from the Tata Tigor Styleback Drive
- The ease of maneuverability of the compact sedan makes for a comfortable drive in toughest of traffic conditions
- The petrol version seemed to be more smoother in driving as well as gear shifting than its diesel counterpart
- The space and the legroom is convenient and makes for a comfortable road trip
- Bumpy roads did not provide much of an issue as the shock absorbs cushioned the effect well
All in all, we had an enjoyable short road trip and can say that Tata Tigor Styleback can be a stylish, convenient and comfortable travel companion for road trips!

Saturday sounded like so much fun! Coffee brewing sessions and food curation? Sounds like my kind of day. Even spray painting and music? So many activities. So little time!
How cool that you had the opportunity to test drive the Tata Tigor. I’ve only test drove a car once, well, I was in the passenger seat. I was too afraid to test drive a nice brand new car in Los Angeles. I love the style of the car and am all about comfy road trip cars 🙂
What a cute little car!! How neat that you got to test drive one. I love test driving cars – even if I am not planning on buying them 🙂
We are currently looking for a car for our family, and I like the look of this car. It is great that there is a lot of leg room as my family members area all tall people. I also like that it is very manoeuvrable.
I like the compact look of Sedan. It can really be efficient on the road and also not look bulky.
I am pretty sure my husband is extremely jealous of you! He would love to be able to test drive all sorts of cars. I don’t think this car is here where I live but is definitely one to check out.
That is a sporty little car. I currently have a 4-door, so for my next one I’ll be looking for an SUV.
Looks and sounds like a great museum. Not sure if it is the kind of place I really want to hang out in but for a few hours to make my husband happy would be worth it.
What a cool car and what a cool experience. I like the tree made out of red and green traffic lights.
What a cute car! I would love to visit the museum and spend the day learning all about the journey of transportation.
I didn’t go for this event otherwise we would have met. 🙂
The car looks impressive , for long drives, outside the city as well.
And that transport museum … now I must see it on my next visit to Delhi. 🙂
What an awesome opportunity! I would love to drive one of those cars! I love small cars. Plus, who doesn’t love an awesome, reliable navigation system. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!
Looks like a pretty sweet ride and a really fun experience. I wish we had more diesel options here in the states.
What a cute little car. Perfumology and spray painting sounds like fun. What a great experience.
The car looks so cute and compact. How fun that you were at this event and that you got to test drive it. Sounds like you had a great day too.
Wow, that another one of a kind experience. Would love to be a part of that event someday too. Looks like you had a lot of fun. The car looks good too, perfect for everyday use.
What a cool experience to test drive the car! The event sounded really cool too! I especially liked the tree made from street lights!
I love that this car is nice and compact but loaded with great features. I don’t think they have it for sale here, but if they do, it would be a nice first car for a teenager.
It sounds like you had an awesome time exploring the museum. It would be interesting to see how transportation change throughout the years in India. The Tata Tigor Styleback sounds like an awesome ride indeed. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
This whole experience sounds pretty cool, especially the spray painting part – maybe that was to make sure you don’t go crazy & paint the car instead 😀 The car looks great too, I’m a nervous driver so need a good sat nav & a smooth ride!
Shut up and take my money. I love the size and shape of it!
How fun to be able to test drive a brand new car! I’m an awful driver so I’d be super nervous I was going to have a fender bender the show room!
First time to encounter this car brand but they look nice and like Kia or Suzuki.
I have never heard of this car before. Looks so cute, the perfect urban car.
Seems like a promising option even for lady travelers. your review is quiet balanced and will help one make the right decision on going for it. Love the look and feel and the features !
