Greetings from Sandy & Vyjay! Welcome 2025, a year of new beginnings, new horizons, new hopes, and new dreams. As travellers, over the years, we have learned the art of looking forward, always with optimism. So let us take fresh guard and get ready for another inning, and move forward in 2025. Join us as we march forward in 2025 armed with our arsenal of words. Let 2025 begin with a look at destinations that are not run-of-the-mill, with this intention we have for you a bouquet of 10 destinations that have remained in the shadow, but deserve to be explored, and promise experiences beyond the ordinary. This list is curated based on our own travel experiences. January is the month of new beginnings and new resolutions, it is also the month of celebrations. Kites soar high in the sky as Gujarat and other states celebrate the Kite Festival or Uttran. Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and other states celebrate the transition of the Sun, and the harvest, as Makara Sankranti. Pots of joy overflow as Tamil Nadu celebrate Pongal, and up north in Punjab Lohri is celebrated with typical vigour and verve. January 26, marks a red letter day in the history of our country. It celebrates the adoption of the constitution of India and is celebrated with great pride and ceremony as Republic Day. This January, we will also see the beginning of the largest religious congregation in the world, the Kumbh Mela 2025. If January is a month of celebration, it is also a month to pause and think about the society we live in, and the prevalent values. The 30th of January, saw a stunned nation wake up to the terrible assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. The day is now dedicated to the memory of the Father of the Nation, as Martyr’s Day, and is a day to remember the sacrifices of those who have laid down their lives for the country.

Makar Sankranti is a festival celebrated throughout India, albeit in different forms and under different names. Essentially, it celebrates the harvest and marks the movement of the sun. The rituals of Makar Sankranti reflect gratitude for nature’s bounty and joy for the harvest season. Kite flying is one of the most iconic traditions, especially in Gujarat and Rajasthan, symbolizing the ascent of human aspirations closer to the divine. Holy dips in sacred rivers like the Ganga are believed to purify the soul and attract divine blessings.
Bangalore which is a bustling metropolis today, was once renowned as the “Garden City of India.” Though massive urbanization has turned the city into a concrete jungle, it still clings to its green past, and one of the vestiges of the past is the sprawling Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. An icon in its own right, Lalbagh is quite literally like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise choking city. It is the venue of two colourful flower shows that are held to coincide with two important days in India’s history, Republic Day, and Independence Day. The flower shows attract more than a million visitors who throng to catch a glimpse of the floral beauty that bathes the historical garden. Read more →
