Bastar Madai – Celebrating Bastar
The Bastar District in Chattisgarh is surely one of the hidden gems of India, waiting to be discovered. It is an enchanting medley of nature, culture, and heritage. The Bastar Dussehra celebrations span over 75 days. There is no burning of effigies of Ravan here, it is only the worship of the Goddess Danteshwari. Contrary to general perception, Bastar is a safe place for travellers. Chamundeshwari Temple History is inextricably linked with the history of Mysore or Mysuru. The city derives its very name from the legend associated with the temple. The influence of the Chamundeshwari temple and its deity has extended over the city and its inhabitants, from time immemorial.
