Project Alpha
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” These words of Mark Twain in his famous travel book,”The Innocents Abroad”, captures the essence and meaning of travel.
Travel, though primarily a fun and selfish activity, many a times rises above these, to become a catalyst of transformation, ringing in a change of perspectives, thoughts and actions, in short many of the trips that we undertake as travelers, often end up changing our lives.
What is Project Alpha
A few good men and women together gave birth to an initiative that came to be known as Project Alpha. A crowd funded project, that has brought together more than 50 travelers from around the world who each in their own words tell the story of “The Trip that Changed My Life”. All the stories have been compiled together into a book which is a veritable treasure trove of rich and life changing experiences of these travelers from around the globe.
The funds raised from Project Alpha will be donated to children charities – Save the Children and Unbound.
Voyager is proud to associate with this noble initiative by contributing one of the stories that feature in this book. Project Alpha is a demonstration of the power of travel and how we can give back to society and the communities that have contributed to our lives and touched them in so many ways.

What an incredible project to be a part of! Travel really does go far beyond the individual. It changes the world and how we view other people and other cultures. And there’s really no other way to achieve that level of understanding without it 🙂 And I love how you put this – “giving back to the communities that have contributed to our lives” – beautiful!
Thank you Erin. You are absolutely right. Travel does help us to introspect and become a better human being.
