5 Australia Luxury Escapes – Down Under Delights

Australia is rightly famous for its unique natural attractions like Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef.

And eco-tourists are attracted to fab fauna like kangaroos and koalas like bees to honey.

But it’s also a destination where you’ll find five-star accommodation, renowned restaurants, and exclusive experiences.

So if you’re ready for some Down Under delights, here are five Australia luxury escapes you will enjoy.

  1. Sydney

Sydney

With a world-famous Opera House, an iconic Harbour Bridge and lively cultural quarters like The Rocks, Sydney tops many Aussie tourist wish-lists.

If you like speakeasies, there’s a hive of hidden bars, including The Baxter Inn, Huxley’s and Earl’s Juke Joint — so there’s always somewhere to slake your thirst in style.

Top tip: stay at the Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour for a touch of high-end elegance.

  1. Fremantle

Fremantle is part of Perth’s metropolitan area and serves as the city’s port. But more importantly, it’s home to Bathers Beach House, one of Australia’s best restaurants.

Get stuck into a sumptuous seafood platter or classic lamb chops and soak up the beautiful beach views.

Top Tip: hop on the train from Perth to Fremantle and feel the sand between your toes in just over 30 minutes.

  1. Melbourne

Melbourne

Melbourne might be the most Euro-centric of Australia’s cities — it’s awash with chic cafes, terrific theatres, and refined restaurants.

But if the pop culture’s more your bag, it’s also the filming location for cult TV soap Neighbours, and official tours are very popular.

Top tip: it’s a great hub for exploring the rest of Aus, but if you’ve splashed out on a car for a longer sabbatical, remember to book Melbourne airport parking at Looking4.com prior to weekends away.

  1. Cairns

Cairns is the nearest city to the Great Barrier Reef and if you’d like to learn more about indigenous Australian history, the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park is a real eye-opener.

Nearby Port Douglas is nestled in the tropical rainforest — it’s smaller than Cairns but charming enough to attract its fair share of tourists too.

Top tip: Stay at the Thala Beach Nature Reserve while you’re in the vicinity — it’s like lodging in an Ewok village.

  1. Brisbane

Brisbane - Australia luxury escapes

Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and boasts a cluster of cultural attractions like the Queensland Museum and Science Centre, Queensland Museum of Modern Art and Brisbane Botanic Gardens.

If you’re yearning for well-appointed lodgings, try The Calile Hotel, the Ovolo Inchcolm or the Gambaro — there are many great choices on offer that offer uncommon comfort and classy surroundings, but these establishments are exceptional.

Top tip: If you want to let your hair down, party at the legendary Laruche club.

Tick these five luxe Aussie locations off your vacation to-do list if you want to delve into the delights that Down Under has to offer — you can thank us later.

  1. I stayed at the Thala Beach Reserve – it’s SO beautiful! But when we checked in, there was a juvenile python who made a home right at our doorstep. That was quite the intro to Cairns, LOL. All of these are great suggestions!

  2. I can’t decide which part of Australia I enjoy more. Sydney and Cairns run a close race. I’m one of those who find charm in Port Douglas.

  3. You have mentioned the best cities of Australia here and yes, when I visit the continent, I am surely going to visit all these places – Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane, and Fremantle. Thanks for briefing about them in one blog.

  4. I visited Brisbane fast month and absolutely loved it. I didn’t have time to explore other places. But I will surely come back and visit the places mentioned here. The Sydney Opera House is the first on the list.

  5. I loved Australia during my previous two visits. Melbourne is my favorite as it is really a livable city with beautiful coffee culture. The road trip to Great Ocean Road from Melbourne is worth. In my next visit, I would love to visit other cities like Cairns and Brisbane. Sydney also has a beautiful cosmopolitan culture.
