Avengers Damage Control VR Experience

“Step Beyond Reality”, the intriguing words beckoned us to cross the threshold of reality and enter a world of unimaginable fantasy, the world of the Avengers at The Void in Resorts World Genting, Malaysia. We were at the launch of Marvel Studios Avengers Damage Control VR experience in Genting, a virtual reality experience at The Void.

It promised to be a unique experience as this was the only location in Asia which was home to this Hyper-Reality experience, and only the second after Dubai outside the United States and Canada. We were honored to be representing the Indian media along with media from Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia at the launch of the latest virtual reality experience from Marvel Studios at The Void in Resorts World Genting.

After an exciting launch of the Avengers Damage Control, a state of the art multi-sensory virtual reality experience in style, it was time to step beyond reality and experience the world of the Avengers in true Marvel Studios Style.

Experiencing Avengers Damage Control VR At The Void In Resorts World Genting

It was with excitement writ large on our faces, our hearts aflutter that we crossed the threshold of the Void taking our first step beyond reality. We had read The Void Genting reviews, but what we experienced was beyond our expectations.

We were ushered into a small room with a big television screen where Princess Shuri welcomed us into her team. She assigned us the task of testing out the new suits that had been designed using the best of Wakandan and Sark technologies. As she is welcoming us and explaining the suit prototypes, there comes news of a deadly enemy from the past launching an attack to steal the very technology that has gone into the making of the suits.

She thinks it is an opportune way to test the suits and we are flung into the battle right away!

Suiting Up For The Confrontation

The first step was, of course, getting ‘suited’ up for the experience. The hyper-reality experience of Avenger Damage Control at the Void in Resorts World Genting can be done in groups of four. So four of us were helped with the necessary accessories for the impending immersive experience.

A jacket, helmet, and a pack on the back weighing about 7 kilograms, and we were set to face the enemies of the world!

Off We Go On An Experience That Takes Us Beyond Reality

We looked at each other curiously. It was an intriguing sight, all four of us with heavy helmets and bent slightly with the weight of the load on our back, eyes gleaming with anticipation. We were given a quick briefing and asked to follow instructions. The commandment was to raise your hand if you had any problems during the virtual reality experience and at no cost raise the visor of the helmet.

A final check was done by the helpful assistants at The Void Genting, they checked to ensure that batteries were in order and all settings were perfect. They handed over a card to each one of us which was a tactical guide for using the E.R.S Armor Prototype, the suit that we were going to test in a live battlefield!

• Shield Hold your hands in front of you with clenched fists facing you to act as a shield

These were the instructions given in the tactical guide and these were echoed by the assistants who helped us suit up too.

We closed our visors and the hyper-reality experience began. The shackles of the real world seemed to fall off as we drifted into a world of fantasy, very far away from the reaches of the imagination.

As soon as the visors were closed we looked around. We had transformed into strange galactic creatures and moved like robots. Our bodies were no longer the earthly bodies that we were born with. They were now straight out of the realms of science fiction. We moved with the strange fluidity of robots. Our headphones instructed us to move and we marched in single file in a narrow dark passage, watching each other in utter fascination. What resembled concentric rings of fire met us at the dead-end of the passage. We tried to pass through it, but could not. But after all of us grouped together we passed right through those rings of fire and entered into a strange chamber.

Waiting for us was none other than Dr. Strange! It was his library we were in! We could almost touch him as he paced in his room and brought us up to date on the history of the Infinity Stone. He focused on one particular stone which was the Mind Stone. He explained that Ultron, the robot that was originally designed by Stark and had attained consciousness with the help of the Mind Stone was back, much more powerful after rebuilding himself at the Damage Centre. Our mission was to stop Ultron and his powers and we were assured we were not alone, fighting alongside us would be the Avengers. With a dismissive wave of his hands, Dr. Strange had us move on towards our mission.

We made our way towards the cockpit of a space-craft and found ourselves in front of a steering wheel. There were two rooms with steering wheels and when we had manned both. Our craft took off in a mad tizzy, dodging huge skyscrapers, and took off straight towards what looked like a space station and lodged into it.

We stepped out of the craft to emerge on a platform that seemed to be suspended in space. In front of was a sheer drop that seemed to stretch into infinity. Soon the entire sky that had attained an orange hue was filled with what looked like birds but were actually clones engineered by the villain of the day Ultron. We used our powers like mad, using our palms to attack the marauding invaders, shielding each other with raised fists. We fought on for dear life and the planet that we loved. There was Spiderman by our side egging us on, we saw the likes of Ant-Man and the Wasp helping us take on Ultron and his minions.

Soon Ultron assumed a colossal avatar, towering towards the sky, his body made up of waste and rubble and glared down menacingly at us. But we held on and aided by the superheroes of MCU, we won the day!

The Avengers Damage Control VR experience was our first introduction to VR on such a massive scale. The effect was, of course, huge as we were swept away by the massive scales and realistic dimensions of the experience. The experience is, of course, impossible to explain in words. It has to be felt and experienced in all its multi-dimensions. Some Avengers Damage Control reviews do mention that the Star Wars VR experience is better, but we found the Avengers Damage Control VR experience, truly out of the world.
