Many of the poems and stories are inspired by contemporary events, while others are an ode to the powerful female deities of Hinduism, the different aspects of feminine power and divinity, personified as Ma Durga, Ma Kali, Chamundeshwari Maa, etc.

The anthology, a medley of poems and short stories, is woven around the theme of feminine power and divinity, in one word, Shakti. 19 authors have contributed to the anthology through poetic and fictional expression. 30 poems and 20 stories comprise the anthology, which has been conceptualized and beautifully compiled by Samata Dey Bose, Founder of Indiacafe24.c0m. The book has been edited by Meetu Nadir and is published by Notion Press.

The Shakti Within – Durga’s Call
It was our privilege to contribute to the anthology, “The Shakti Within – Durga’s Call,” as co-authors. Ours is a short story in the historical fiction genre. This is our second association with Indiacafe24.com, earlier we had contributed to the anthology, that was titled, “Sweet Chronicles – A Journey Through The History Of Indian Sweets.” We had written the story of the genesis of the popular sweet, “Mysore Pak.”
In the book, “The Shakti Within – Durga’s Call,” our story is again associated with the history of the city of Mysore. It is a fictional account which traces the origins of the famous Wodeyar Dynasty which ruled the Kingdom of Mysore, for more than 500 years. The story is about how the first Wodeyar King of Mysore who is believed to have roots in distant Dwarka, comes to Mysore and establishes the Wodeyar dynasty.
Yaduraya who is destined to become the first king of Mysore, sees visions of a female divinity, who urges him to head southwards, which he does. She constantly guides him as he sets off on the pursuit of his destiny. The female divinity is none other than, Sri Chamundeshwari Devi or Maa Durga of Mysore, who is believed to have slain the demon Mahishasura, on the Chamundi Hill in Mysore. In a nutshell, the story is all about Durga’s call to Yaduraya, to save the people of Mysore from the clutches of an oppressive ruler.
