Trip To Egypt – Best Places To Visit In Egypt
Egypt, the land of Pharaohs, pyramids, and mummies has always been a source of great fascination. The ancient Egyptian civilization on the banks of the river Nile captured my imagination in school. I read with fascination about the different aspects of the country and was always waiting for the question, where is Egypt? to show off the information about Egypt that I had garnered through my readings.
It has been a dream to visit Egypt which is shrouded in an aura of intrigue and mystery. I hope to travel to this part of Africa someday and hence on a weekend when I had some free time, I decided to do some research on Egypt tourism, things to do in Egypt, places to visit in Egypt, the main Egypt tourist attractions, in short every bit of information required to plan an Egypt vacation.
I felt elated, as I went about the exercise though I knew that a trip to Egypt may not happen in the near future. But I felt as if Egypt was calling. Oh! there was so much to do and so little time. First things first, I needed to check out about the visa procedure I thought as I searched the internet for information. I clicked on a link that told me, for help with your Egypt visa click here. I read all the information and did a quick check to ensure my passport and other things were in order. There were a lot of things to be taken care of I thought, apart from the visa, air tickets, hotel bookings and much more. Also, I needed to make a list of the places that I would visit in Egypt.
I started making a list as I forayed in the complex jungles of the world wide web for information, reviews, and, recommendations. I came up with a list of places that I thought I must visit during my trip to Egypt. All these places till now had been exotic and distant places that I had only read in books and seen in movies. So here was my bucket list for Egypt, ready to be ticked off for a perfect Egypt holiday.
The Great Sphinx
The Sphinx is one of the most iconic and probably most recognized monuments of Egypt and probably the world. It was something that had fascinated and haunted me since I read about as a kid in school. The colossal structure with the body of a lion and the head of a human seemed to be awe-inspiring and my Egypt visit would be incomplete without paying this incredible monument a visit. The fact that not much is known about the origins of the Sphinx, like who built it and why adds to the mysterious aura of this monolithic rock sculpture that seems to have majestically straddled the passage of time. The Sphinx is undoubtedly a highlight of any trip to Egypt.
The Pyramids
The Pyramids are another iconic sight synonymous with Egypt. The Great Pyramid of Giza is said to be one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It must indeed be a sight to behold with its base covering an area of 566,000 square feet! These tombs of the Pharaohs must indeed be one of the most awe-inspiring sights in the world. The Pyramids are one of the prime reason why people plan a trip to Egypt.
Luxor Temple
The Luxor Temple complex on the banks of the Nile river stands as a testimony to the architectural brilliance and grandeur of its builders. This complex built in 1400 BCE is sure to transport one into an era of grandeur and magnificence on the wings of imagination. The Luxor temple complex is another of the main reasons why Egypt beckons and remains an alluring reason to plan a trip to Egypt.
Egyptian Museum
With a passion for history, museums have always been a source of great attraction. The Egyptian museum with over 120,000 exhibits promises to open a fascinating window to the history of Egypt and throw light upon many of the facets of the Egyptian civilization. The museum ranks high in my list of things to do on my trip to Egypt.
Visiting the Khan el-Khalili in Cairo
Cairo conjures up images of an exotic and vibrant city bathed in myriad colors with bustling bazaars, something that reminds one of the Arabian Nights. The Khanel-Khalili which is a souk or bazaar would be a wonderful place to saunter around and absorb the vibes of the local culture in an immersive way. Definitely, a must-do activity when on a trip to Egypt.
Cruise on the River Nile
The river Nile has been another place that has been haunting from school days with its mystical aura. A visit to Egypt would be incomplete without cruising on the legendary river Nile. One of the dream cruises to do would be a Luxor-Aswan cruise which would give an opportunity to explore at least part of the course of the historic Nile. A cruise would be a great opportunity to explore the historic and ancient landmarks that dot the banks of the Nile.
With a basic bucket list of wonders to explore ready, I started looking at e-visums.co.uk, itineraries and best accommodation options for Egypt. I read various travel blogs that talked about immersive experiences while on a trip to Egypt and about best places in Egypt. I read the questions that people had about Egypt like, is it safe to travel to Egypt? Which are the top Egypt attractions? Which Egypt tours are best for families? How is Egypt travel different from other countries in Africa? etc., and then I read the answers too.

Egypt Map
I was so consumed with Egypt and all it had to offer that I worked late into the night, building alternate itineraries and travel plans. I knew that whatever work I had put in would not go waste and would come in handy one day when the call of the Nile would summon me to the land of the Pyramids.

Another blog from Egypt. What interests me is the market – I’m so into markets when traveling -in here you can see the real culture and people of a country. Thanks for including that – what did you buy in the public market? How’s the bargaining?
