Travel and tourism have shrunk the world and brought its people closer. What in ancient times used to be voyages of adventure undertaken by a daring few who sailed the seven seas is today accessible to everyone. Technology, Communication, and Transportation systems have ensured that borders become porous and the people of the world get to see the wonders of the world. We have always been passionate about traveling and seeing the world, experiencing new places and new cultures. It was books that first introduced travel and then our imagination literally took to the skies. As the world celebrates travel and tourism in the form of the World Tourism Day, we relive our own little tryst with travel and would like to take you on a pictorial journey to some of the places that have left their mark in our hearts over the years. Of course, these are only representative as it would be impossible to mention and feature the hundreds if not thousands of destinations that we have been to. India itself is worth a few volumes at the least. So are you ready to take off with us on our own voyage of re-discovery?

Rajasthan, the desert state of India is like poem scripted in the sand, a region that brings alive the richness of India’s heritage in regal splendor. This is the Junagarh Fort in Bikaner.
If Rajasthan is poetry in sand then Hampi is a symphony in stone. A glittering example of the grandeur of the Vijayanagar empire. Hampi is indeed the crown of Karnataka’s rich heritage.
A heavenly region of India where one feels as if you have woken up to a dream is Ladakh. The Union Territory of Ladakh is a mesmerizing medley of ethereal nature, mysticism, and spirituality. Pangong Lake is a symbol of the beauty of our planet, a reminder to all to preserve and sustain the earth’s beauty.
The temples of India sing the glory of India’s heritage and are like glittering souvenirs from the past. Be it the sun temples of Konark and Katarmal or the Jagannath temple at Puri or the temples of Varanasi and Bodh Gaya, each one of them is a beautiful chapter in the book called India. Thailand is not just a backpacker’s destination, it makes for an exciting family getaway too. Its gorgeous islands and beaches along with the aesthetic and artistic temples make for an unforgettable experience. The picture shows us at the Grand Palace, Bangkok.

Hong Kong is indeed a great family destination. With its many amusement parks and other family attractions, it makes for a great holiday getaway. Add to that its melting pot of culture and cuisine and its night markets. A colorful and vibrant urban center.

Malaysia is a heady concoction which seems to draw from the best of Asia. It is a synthesis of the contemporary and the ancient, a land that thrives on its heritage, culture and natural wealth that is still pristine and relatively unexplored. A country that lures you with the nature of Borneo Island and the charms of Genting Highlands and Kuala Lumpur, among others. The picture is that of the Chin Swee temple in Genting Highlands.
World Tourism Day – Nepal – An Experience That Will Change Your Life
Nestled in the shade of the mighty Himalayas, Nepal is a country that needs to experienced with the body, mind, and, soul. The land where the world’s highest Mountain peak, Everest stands in lofty magnificence is also an intricate mosaic of heritage, culture, nature, adventure, and spirituality. The picture shows the Ashoka Pillar that was installed to commemorate the visit of Emperor Ashoka to the birthplace of Buddha, the Mayadevi temple in Lumbini.

Sharjah is an oasis of the rich Bedouin culture of Arabia. One of the attractions which takes you back on the sands of time is the fascinating land of Mlheia. This is the camel rock in Mlheia.
Singapore – A Modern Day Wonder
Singapore is a modern utopia, another great family destination and a melting pot of culture. Be its impeccable roads and public utilities or the wonder of the Gardens By the Bay, Singapore is sure to impress right from its Changi Airport to the range of attractions and experiences it offers.
France – A Classic Destination
France is a country that immediately conjures up images of elegant cafes by the riviera, of the enchanting countryside, of museums that are home to the work of the great masters, and much more. An evening in Paris is something to be treasured and remembered for a lifetime.
Italy – Experiencing A Living Museum And More
Italy charms you with its earthy beauty. Be it the Amalfi coast or the ruins of Rome. If the Colosseum thrills and pains you at once, the beauty of Florence and the memories of Michael Angelo calm your senses. The crowds of Venice notwithstanding, a gondola ride is something one will treasure forever.
Switzerland – A Fairyland of Dreams
Switzerland, the land of the Alps. A country known as much for its carpets of snow as for its emerald green meadows that seem to stretch endlessly. A country that hypnotizes you not only with the typical Swiss precision of its trains but also the pristine beauty of its countryside.
Rwanda – The Land of A Thousand Smiles
Africa beckons with its raw beauty. The land where Man is said to have evolved from is an irresistible region to travel to. Rwanda is a country that showcases the best of the continent of Africa. This tiny country is showing the way to the world in terms of sustainable tourism. It offers a beautiful tapestry of changing landscapes, from mountains to rainforests to the thrill of experiencing wildlife in the raw. One of the unique experience is, of course, coming face to face with a mountain gorilla in the Volcanoes National Park.
The USA – The Dreamland of Many
The United States of America is a proverbial lodestone that attracts millions of visitors, for business and also for travel and tourism. From the irresistible temptations of the Big Apple, New York to the lures of Sin City, Las Vegas, the country has its magnetic pull. Not to forget the charm of its many National Parks including the Yellow Stone National Park in the picture.
