The Arya Niwas Hotel was originally a part of the royal abode of Raja Saheb Khandela, Chota Pana. Some 43 years ago it was bought by the patriarch of the family that owns and manages it today. You have hotels and hotels, but there are some hotels that touch your heart, because they don’t feel like a hotel, but rather a home away from home.
One such hotel is this eco-friendly palace in Jaipur, Arya Niwas Hotel from the Arya Niwas Hospitality group. Our experience of staying at the hotel, truly lived up to their tagline, “modern comfort, timeless charm, great value.”

“In all our hotels we try to give a feel that is very, very local, sustainable, and environment friendly, at a cost that a middle-class average Indian can afford,” says Shri Tarun Kumar Bansal, who is the third generation owner of the hotel. He goes on to add that the hotel was started by his grandfather as a 20-room hotel and has now grown to a 128-room hotel.

The fact that it is a family-managed hotel ensures the personal touch in all aspects, be it the decor, service, or dining.
Arya Niwas Hotel Jaipur has a wide range of single and double rooms to choose from. The rooms are ideal for solo travellers, couples, as well as families. It is heartening to note that the hotel also has a wheelchair-friendly room.
The room that we stayed in had a comfortable double bed, sofa, television, and refrigerator, along with a tea/coffee maker. There was also a dressing table and a wardrobe. During our stay there we found Idlis, Puri-bhaji, Parathas, Poha, Upma, Khaman, Jalebi, assorted Sandwiches, Garlic toast, cut fruits, and fruit juices, tea, and coffee.
The menu for lunch and dinner is unique. They have a visual menu. The dishes are fully cooked and displayed on a counter. You can check them out and place your order, which is then freshly cooked and delivered to your table. This way you get to mix and match and customize your order to your own taste and preference. In a nutshell, Hotel Arya Niwas serves comfort food that is soul-satisfying.

The main lounge of the Arya Niwas hotel is simply stunning. It looks like an art gallery or art museum. It was once the Durbar Hall or meeting room of the erstwhile palace. The hotel management has renovated the hall with great care, ensuring that the original ethos is retained.
Light breaks into delightful colours as it strikes the stained glasswork that adorns the arches above wooden doors. Ornate columns seem to gleam with pride, as they seamlessly lead to exquisite arches. Colourful frescoes adorn the walls above the arches. Glittering chandeliers shine their light upon the regal furniture that is placed with meticulous precision inside the lounge.
Glimpses of heritage art are not limited only to the Heritage lounge, you can see them in the form of paintings that adorn walls, at the reception, in the corridor, restaurant, or elsewhere in the hotel.
