A Must Try Iftar Buffet At Plaza Premium Lounge Bangalore & Hyderabad
We were once again in familiar territory. The Kempegowda International Airport at Bangalore. But this time around it felt strange as we were not there to board a flight nor had we alighted from one. We were there at the invitation of Plaza Premium Lounge to indulge in the sumptuous Iftar spread on the occasion of Ramadan.
Ramadan Special Iftar Buffet at Plaza Premium Lounge
The Plaza Premium Lounge at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has a special Iftar Buffet that is inspired by the cuisines of Arabia. A boon to travelers transiting from Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport during the month of Ramadan. The buffet spread is a magical mix of dishes handcrafted by experts and includes dishes synonymous with the holy month of Ramadan. The spread includes specialties like Chicken Haleem, Cocktail Samosa, Fattoush, Baba Ganoush Salad, Chicken Kabza and many more designed to tempt the palate. Delectable desserts like Basboosa, Baklava, Dates Square are sure to seduce all and sundry.
The Iftar Buffet is on until the 15th of June at Plaza Premium Lounge, International Departures at both Bangalore and Hyderabad airports. Executive Chef, Plaza Premium Lounge India, Ankit Mangla said: “We at Plaza have set a benchmark in bringing memorable celebratory experiences to guests. The location, superior service standards and attention to detail make the occasion at all our properties truly different. This Holy Month of Ramadan, Plaza Premium Lounge will create compelling guest experiences that are in line with the spirit of the season marked by solidarity and compassion.”
Our Experience of the Iftar Buffet at the Plaza Premium Lounge
“We have a lot of flights from the Middle East that land in the evening hours and the travelers are really pleased with our Iftar Buffet”, explains Sujay Patil, Lounge Manager at the Plaza Premium Lounge as he shows us around.
That is indeed a thoughtful gesture that must be well appreciated by travelers looking to break their fast with the customary dates, we think as our eyes fall on the platter of dates which is at the beginning of the Iftar Buffet spread.
We were walked through the different sections of the buffet and were explained that the dessert counter had desserts which were all eggless. There were many options for the vegetarians too so that they too could immerse themselves in the flavors and aromas of the special cuisine of Ramadan.
After a tour of the lounge and the buffet and the live counters which whipped up south Indian and Chinese delicacies, we were shown to our table.
We started with a cool and refreshing Mango drink and starters that included Beetroot Cutlets and Jalapeno Samosas. On learning that we were vegetarians, Chef Prakash and Chef Ashok along with their team worked their magic and abracadabra, an exotic special vegetarian Iftar platter materialized on our table!
The platter looked so gorgeous that we hesitated to let our spoons and forks touch it, afraid to violate the beauty of the presentation. We were indeed in Catch-22 situation, we wanted to eat the platter and keep it too! Ultimately our baser instincts got the better of our aesthetic sensibilities and we dug in wholeheartedly.
The Platter consisted of Hummus which is a Levantine dip made of mashed and cooked chickpeas or other beans. To go with the dip there was the famous Pitta Bread which is ubiquitous in Arabia. A beautiful emerald colored mound graced the platter which along with a red rose carved exquisitely from a ripe tomato gave it a vibrantly colorful look. The Chef explained that the green mound was the Tabouli Salad which is an Arabian vegetarian salad made from finely chopped parsley, mint, onion, Bulgur, and seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. The platter was also ornamented with divinely tasting dates and almonds.
Our palates exploded in ecstasy with the mingling of different and exotic flavors from Arabia as we relished the special Iftar platter specially curated for us.
But the magic of the evening was not yet over. It was now the turn of the dessert platter to play the role of the showstopper. The platter looked inviting to say the least. It was laden with desserts that could be called the epitome of gastronomic nirvana. The platter included the famous Arabian dessert Baklava which is a sweet pastry made of layers of unleavened dough filled with chopped nuts and syrup. Luscious looking cheesecakes and Walnut brownies too graced the platter. A bowl of Zafrani Seviyan Kheer in the platter seemed to bring alive the exotic aura of Arabia with its lingering taste of saffron.
The food was excellent and full marks to the team of Chefs who have recreated the richness of the exotic flavors and aromas of Arabia at the Plaza Premium Lounge. The taste of their creations lingers for a long time creating memories to be cherished. The wonderful food that we were served would have been incomplete without the generous icing of warmth and hospitality displayed by the entire team at the Plaza Premium Lounge.

Who doesn’t love a good buffet spread. This one looks awesome and tons to choose from
I wish I could be there for all this great food and buffet. I am vegan so this buffet looks like it would be perfect for us. I can only dream I will be there someday.
Bengaluru lounge is one of the finest I’ve been too. And being invited to an airport lounge is gold ! Pictures look yumm, I’m sure you guys had a fun time.
This looks absolutely delicious! And, I would imagine that someone traveling during Ramadan would feel a sense of ‘home’ seeing a spread like this and appreciate being able to have it.
Wow, this is the ultimate #foodcoma. The buffet offerings seem plentiful and we’ll definitely love to try both exotic flavors and food with familiar tastes to remind us of home while in travel.
I’m not much of a foodie to be honest but this looks good! The deserts especially. Any kind of cheesecake and I am there!
I would love to travel more but my current situation doesn’t allow for too much of that. The food at this place looks so great! I love the variety and all that it has to offer.
All of this food sounds incredible. I have had some of these dishes, but not all. Some are ones I have enjoyed before, and the others I would love to try. I like the variety on the platter.
What a lovely way to cater for their guests observing Ramadan and of course, other guests can also enjoy. The range of dishes looks really wonderful.
Oh wow, everything look delicious (and beautiful to boot)! I would love to be able to snack on a little bit of everything – buffets are perfect.
Wow…that is quite a spread…and at an airport. Looks like an unbelievable selection of food.
WOW!!! That looks like an amazing buffet to try and eat at. Everything looks so tasty.
Everything looks incredible. I love a good buffet. This looks pretty delicious!
This buffet is so unique and looks delicious! I love a good buffet, some foods for everyone no matter what their tastes are.
It all sounds so delicious (and those walnut brownies especially caught my eye!) I think it’s fantastic that the lounge makes such a strong effort to accommodate different dietary and religious requests.
I would make a trip to the airport for this too! What a delicious spread. I love trying new foods and buffets are a great way to try a little of a lot of different things.
Finding good food in an airport is surprising to me! Though, I will admit that I rarely eat in airports because I have often been disappointed with the food. However, the Iftar Buffet sounds amazing! I quite like the idea of a buffet in an airport restaurant, because travelers who may not be used to the food, can see and choose how much they want.
What an interesting thing to have a Ramadan buffet at an airport lounge. The buffet seemed like it had a much broader selection than most lounge buffets we have seen. I wonder what the buffet looks like at other times of year.
What a treat to be invited into this incredible Iftar buffet. The spread looks sensational — some Mediterranean, Asian, and Indian flavors. Definitely worth a trip to this lounge!
The Iftar delicacies look delicious! It is nice to know that they have Ramadan specials in airport lounges. We normally go to Fort Area in Mumbai to binge on Ramadan food. 🙂
This buffet spread looks really promising! The Iftar buffet looks really delish! What an awesome idea to set it up in an airport!
They have a tummy blowing spread at iftar buffet. I would be thoroughly confused to choose one over the other. I should plan a visit now.
Wow the photos are amazing. What a feast! Looks absolutely delicious!
Now that is an absolute treat in transit. Such a brilliant idea and a very useful one. The food looks absolutely delicious and mouth watering. It must have been amazing to be able to sample it all.
WOwww! I think I am hungry right now, all of the food from this buffet lounge looks very delicious and mouth watering! I really love all of the photos! Thanks for sharing!
WOw if I am ever there I am going to have to go to this lounge!! There is so many options to eat!!! & Drink!! But most importantly eat!!
What a delightful spread available at the Bangalore premium lounge! I just love the look of the food, especially the tabbouleh..it looks so fresh! I can feel the aromas and tastes from the pictures.
I am getting so hungry just looking at your photos. I am a huge fan of Indian and Chinese cuisine so I’m sure I would try everything here! How interesting that all of their desserts are made without eggs.
The Iftar Buffet looks amazing! I am a fussy eater but could imagine tucking in to a lot of this food. I like how the desserts are all eggless and there are plenty of vegetarian options to cater for everyone.
Ok- so now I am hungry!
What a wonderful opportunity to have been invited to enjoy such a lovely spread. Everything looks so beautiful, and you are right. It almost looks to beautiful to eat! They have truly created a special event for the travelers in each of the airports.
