The village in most probability was once a settlement contained within an ancient fortification but has now developed beyond it. The monastery is located in the midst of beautiful, landscaped gardens with panoramic views of the hills and valleys.

The 108 Manes or Buddhist Stupas perched high up on Mandala Top at a height of about 11,000 feet are a relatively new tourist attraction in Dirang. The 108 Mane at Mandala Top was consecrated on the 24th of November, 2018 by His Eminence, Guru Tulku Rinpoche, in the presence of Shri Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

108 Stupas are arranged in concentric circles around a Buddha Statue, which is being built. The sacred Buddhist mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum,” is inscribed on each of these stupas. Mandala Top is also a birding hotspot and a delight for nature lovers. Driving to Mandala Top from Dirang and back is in itself a wonderful experience.
