The “Magik” is back after a gap of eight years. Rock On 2 film now running in theatres, is from the stable of Excel Entertainment and distributed by Eros Now. The music is by Shankar Ehsaan and Loy and Zee Music Company is the music partner. There are eight songs which take you on a rocking voyage of music. Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli continue to Rock On and is now joined by Shraddha Kapoor. Farhan and Shraddha’s singing is simply awesome and it is definitely the highlight of the film.
Rock On 2 movie is set in the picturesque Shillong, which is in the state of Meghalaya and the camera lovingly captures the endearing charm of this beautiful North-Eastern state of India. Adding to the visual appeal is the music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. The music slowly and steadily grows with the story till it totally engulfs you with its magic!
The story is about how the main protagonists successfully fight their own internal battles against the backdrop of a larger conflict in the North-East part of India. Aditya, played by Farhan Akhtar is now living in Meghalaya and works to help the farmers. He has formed a cooperative and also opened a school. The cross that Aditya is bearing and the demon that he is fighting is the suicide committed by a fan many years ago and his sensitive nature has not come to terms with it and he somehow feels guilty for the incident. The characters played by Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli join together and use the power of music to highlight a larger issue and spread awareness in a way that reaches directly the hearts of people and the people unite in a common cause.
The movie is a complete family entertainer and a musical drama and would appeal across generations with its story, music and the play of human emotions and relationships. The movie is for every generation and music gets the people together. Rock On 2 is sure to evoke the same kind of magic that the earlier version did.Talking about music, Shankar Ehsaan Loy take you on a mellifluous and rhythmic journey with songs that touch your heart and have your feet tapping. The eight songs are definitely the highlight of the film and the ones sung by Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor are special. In terms of performances, the cast turns out a mature performance. Both Farhan and Arjun give strong performances while Purab provides some lighter moments. Shraddha Kapoor plays an aloof, tentative Jiah with panache.
The movie reaches its climax with credit scene Woh Jahan that changes into Rock On 2 title track. All in all Rock On 2 is a complete package. Interesting plot. The cast is the winning factor I guess. 🙂
I am not sure if I will see it though.
I loved watching first part.. I loved Farhan Akhtar singing..few friends went for this movie n said it’s not that good as the first part so thought of Skipp but after ur review will definitely watch soon..thanks for the review
A balanced review. I liked Rock On (The first one) and I like musical movies in general. But somehow, Rock On 2 didn’t make the mark that I hoped it would. But loved the music.
