Bangalore or Bengaluru as it is now called is the city that we call our home. Whenever and wherever we travel in the world, we always look forward to coming back to this city. Bangalore over the years has evolved from being a military cantonment during the British Raj to a bustling metropolis.

The iconic Mahatma Gandhi Road or M.G. road as it is popularly known as was part of the military cantonment during the British Raj and was known then as South Parade Road. Today M.G.Road is in the heart of the city’s Central Business District.

Situated near M.G. Road is the Hyatt Centric. The Hyatt Centric brand is a new lifestyle concept that promises an elegant and cosmopolitan stay experience in the heart of prime destinations. The Centric Brand from the house of Hyatt debuts in India with the first hotel under this brand opening recently in Bangalore. The concept of the Hyatt Centric brand is that the hotels are located in prime locations right in the thick of the action. The hotels are meant to ensure that the guests get a real and immersive feel of the city, its culture, and cuisine, and all from the perspective of a local.

The Bangalore Hyatt Centric is the first in India. Considering the iconic nature of M.G.Road and the promise of Hyatt Centric we could not say no to an invitation to stay in the hotel and experience a staycation in the heart of Bangalore city. Here is an account of our staycation and experience at the Hyatt Centric from Checkin to Checkout.

Our experience at Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore

Checking In For our Staycation At the Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore

Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore

We checked in to the Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore in the early afternoon hours of Saturday. Faces lit up with the warmth of smiles greeted us and glasses of a cool and refreshing citrus based welcome drink provided a welcome respite from the summer heat. Within a few minutes, the helpful staff at the reception completed the check-in formalities and we were escorted to our suite by a smiling staff member.

The Lobby Area At The Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore

Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore

The lobby of the Hyatt Centric Bangalore is elegantly done up with some quirky design elements. But what we really loved in the lobby was, “The Corner”, a place where you can chill or work and also have light snacks and maybe a cup of exotic tea.

Our Room At The Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore

We had been booked into a suite on the 5th floor of the 11th storeyed hotel. The suite with its elegant decor and elements of quirkiness impressed us as soon as we opened the door and entered it.

At 570 sq ft area, the suite was quite spacious and was airy and full of natural light that streamed in from a door that led to a private terrace garden that overlooked the pool. The suite consisted of a living room and a bedroom.

The Living Room

The living room was well equipped with a refrigerator and LED television set. A dining table for four was tastefully placed on one side of the room while a comfortable sofa promised some relaxing moments lounging with a magazine in hand.

The Private Terrace Garden

Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore

This was one of our favorite places in the suite. A door led to a private garden from the living room. The beautiful garden had two lounge chairs to relax in and looked on to the pool. Some great views of the Bangalore skyline kept us glued to the place for a long time. We almost jumped with childish glee on seeing the Bangalore Metro trains crisscrossing in the distance. A cup of hot steaming coffee while relaxing on the lounge chair in the private terrace garden sets the tone for a perfect day.

The Bedroom

The bedroom was a spacious affair. One wall of the room had a full-length glassed window which afforded a wonderful view of the city skyline as soon as we pulled back the curtains. It also allowed natural sunlight in. You always have the option of shutting off the light by pulling the curtains, though we preferred letting in the natural light. A comfortable king size bed presided over the room. A couch by the side of the window was a great place to relax and just admire the views. A quirky looking artwork of a woman riding a motorcycle adorned the wall behind the bed. It added the right element of quaintness and character to the tastefully and elegantly done up room.

The bathroom attached to the bedroom too was quite spacious and done up in marble and equipped with all necessary toiletries. A separate rain-shower ensured refreshing moments after returning from our exploration of the city.

Dining Experience At The Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore

The Bengaluru Brasserie is the delightful restaurant of the Hyatt Centric which also houses a bar. The Brasserie is the place to head to for a drink or for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It has a spacious indoor seating where the breakfast buffet spread is set up. Currently, lunch and dinner are from a la carte menu.

Apart from the indoor dining option, there is a fantastic garden by the pool which is so inviting that we straight away headed towards it without a second thought.

The ambiance was perfect for a quiet afternoon lunch. The cool Bangalore air blew across the ethereal-looking pool and we felt as if we were in a beautiful oasis right in the heart of the bustling metropolis that is Bangalore.

The Brasserie offers a choice of Asian and Western dishes. We decided to start our lunch with some refreshing mocktails and opted for Coco Twist, which was an exotic concoction of Coconut milk, pineapple juice, fresh cream, and nutmeg. The other drink that we had was intriguingly named as, “Cool as Cucumber”, and contained cucumber, chaat masala, black salt, syrup, lime, and fizzy water. As we sipped our drinks and reveled in the cool air blowing across the pool, we were served our lunch by a very helpful and smiling staff. We were helped to choose our starters, main course, and desserts. We went by their recommendations and had no reason to regret it.

For starters, we had boiled water chestnut and garlic chives dumplings with soy. They looked green and inviting and seemed to blend harmoniously with the green environs.

We also had baked foccasia, olives, charred zucchini, burrata and sweet garlic. This preparation was simply out of the world!

We were already full just with the mocktails and starters and knowing that some irresistible desserts would be on the way, we consciously settled for a light main course. We opted for some spicy egg-plant curry with some phulkas along with steamed rice and Dal. We liked the egg-plant curry so much that we repeated it for dinner!

The grand finale to a lazy weekend lunch came with some tantalizingly tempting desserts. We had some cheesecake which was topped with an Indian dessert called Rabri. It tasted simply heavenly.

Breakfast at the Brasserie is quite an elaborate affair with a lavish spread and live counters. The food includes local cuisine like Idli, Vada, Dosas, Parathas, etc., as well as continental dishes. When you are in Bangalore there is no way that you cannot taste its famed filter coffee, a great way to finish your breakfast at the Brasserie is with a steaming cup of filter coffee.

  1. Having a garden and a pool along with a great fitness room is all I need in a room when I stay at a hotel near or far away. This hotel is one I would stay at anytime if given the chance.

  2. I have a friend who went to India once for a wedding. She had a wonderful time and thought India was lovely. I hope to visit there one day.

  3. Wow! The suite looks huge. I think one entire family with children can stay there really comfortably. The food selections also look various! We’ll love it here. 🙂

  4. Staycations are so much fun. This spot looks amazing. Hyatt Centric MG Road Bangalore looks impressive too. I love a good brasserie. There are a lot of those in Quebec.

  5. How interesting, the lounge looks like a picture-perfect replica of living rooms in the 50s. The food looks amazing, especially chestnut dumplings. The pool, on the other hand, appears to be kind of small. I loved the terrace though.

  6. This Bangalore Hyatt is a fabulous hotel. You really captured some beautiful shots of the hotel and grounds.

  7. I have not tried a Hyatt Centric Brand. But I like the concept. I really like a lobby that is a spot you can use to get out of your room. Although, with a suite like that I might not want to leave. The pool might tempt me though! It is nice to have a staycation in your own home town. Especially when you are hosted!

  8. It looks such a wonderful place to stay for many! I love that it includes the gym and spa for people to feel more like home. The interior design looks simple yet elegant!

  9. I actually did not know about the Hyatt Centric brand but it looks like a great concept. The hotel also seems superb, I love the terrace with the room, the spa and the interiors are also pretty cool, with a chic wall art in the bedroom. The best part is the location of the hotel, its in the middle of the most happening place in Bangalore!

  10. It’s a really nice hotel with a warm and homey decor, “the Corner” looks great and I love the green view! Thanks for introducing this place to us and I would love to stay there next time I am in Bangalore! @ knycx.journeying

  11. Would love to know where the Bangalore is (what country) in the first paragraph! I guessed India before I saw it in paragraph 3.

Interesting to learn that the Hyatt Centric brand hotels are meant to ensure that the guests get a real and immersive feel of the city, its culture, and cuisine, and all from the perspective of a local. Interesting that a Hyatt has a quirky design – is this different form the Hyatt chain in the US?

Love the greenery on the terrace garden; and it’s private too – nice! That pool looks inviting too. It’s best when the staff is friendly and smiling. Foods look yummy and so colorful. – sounds like a nice experience at the Hyatt Centric in Bangalore.

  12. Overall, I love how modern and clean this hotel looks. It’s great that they offered a refreshing citrus drink when you arrived for check-in. Those little things really make a difference! I also like hotel rooms with wooden floors as opposed to carpeted rooms 🙂

  13. I love the interior of this hotel! Very minimal and elegant! And such a great plus that it’s near several points of interest in Bangalore! The food at the hotel looks pretty yummy too! I’d definitely love a staycation here!

  14. I used to live in Bangalore 8 years ago and its so good to see nice hotels develop in the area. When I lived there we only had a few big names such as Windsor and Le Meridien. Will definitely book a room here next time I am in Banglore..

  15. Wow, how more centric can you be? Most of the attractions are 3-6 kilometers away! Great walks on a well-planned route would be the order of my days there. Great concept!

  16. Sounds like you had a great time! I absolutely love that full length window in the bedroom. The pool looks gorgeous too. I hadn’t heard of the Hyatt Centric brand before, but it sounds like an awesome concept!

  17. The private terrace garden is a winner for me! I love green spaces. The pool comes a close second. It really is inviting. The food looks amazing as well. I can’t imagine Rabri on a cheesecake though.

  18. This looks like such a lovely hotel! At first, I was going to say I’d probably spend all of my time enjoying the private garden terrace but then I saw the pictures of the pool and that looks simply stunning! Then there’s the massage table at the spa, can’t pass that up. And the food looks incredible, too! I think I’m going to need a week here in order to enjoy everything!! 😉

  19. Great property. Liked the artworks on the walls, especially in the living room. The food looks great though it is expected. That green dumpling seems something that I’d want to try.

  20. I can imagine that even a short stay at this place must be a great break from everyday’s routine: the pool in the lush surroundings, the good food at the end of the day…count me in!

  21. Looks like the perfect place for staycations. The restaurant Bengaluru Brasserie is one of our favorites to try out some amazing food.

  22. Bangalore looks like a great location for Hyatt to launch its Centric chain. I love the look of the hotel. Your patio looks relaxing. I would love the full length window in the bedroom. The dining sounds exceptional. The mocktails sound great as do all of the food options. And that pool. Simply stunning. I cannot imagine anyone ever wanting to leave the pool area.

  24. Apart from being at a perfect location, we to feel Hyatt Centric is a perfect staycation. We loved their quirky designs and decor. Rooms looks quite comfortable and private terrace that is a plus on. Brassiere too looks quite nice. Overall a perfect package for the weekend.

  25. I’ll tell you what – when I travel, I usually stay in 300 rupee guesthouses. It’s a part of the fun of visiting India. That said, your post makes me want to stay at the Hyatt. Especially the part about comfortable beds! You sure don’t get that for 300rs 🙂 lol!

  26. Staycations are perfect for millenial generation. Hyatt looks really tempting and private garden overlooking the pool surely must have been delightful. I will certainly plan for the staycation at Hyatt Centric someday.

  27. This place looks perfect for a special staycation. The rooms are comfortable and the location – just right to play tourist in your own city. Love the list of places that you have given with the distances. Lucky you for having got an experience here.
