Now, is the best time to visit Pelling. February to May is when you can experience the best of this picturesque hill station in Sikkim. Pelling is a gem of a place, still pristine and pure, it is about 135 Km. from Siliguri and about 115 Km from Gangtok, the Capital of Sikkim. On our Sikkim odyssey, we covered many places including Gangtok, Ravangla, and Nathula Pass on the Indo-China border. Each of these places is truly amazing, but the picture-perfect town of Pelling stole our hearts.

Sikkim is a state with many undiscovered and pure gems that are sure to delight the intrepid traveller in you. It is nothing but pure heaven for nature lovers, and it is indeed heartening to know that the state will be linked by the rail network soon, with the proposed railway line that will connect Sivok with Rangpo, with a 44.98 kilometre-long rail link. Pelling is located in the Western part of Sikkim.

We visited Pelling in May, and it was an amazing trip, to say the least. Our road trip from Siliguri to Pelling was an exhilarating experience and we felt sanctified as we breathed in the fresh mountain air and took in the unalloyed terrain, which spread out before us. We felt blessed to be there at a time that is considered the best time to visit Pelling.

If you are there at what is considered to be the best time to visit Pelling, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of the Kanchenjunga Mountain Ranges. We were treated to a mesmerizing view, right from our hotel room. As we drew the curtains in the morning, there in the distance we could see the snow-clad peaks of the Kanchenjunga being bathed in the golden light of the first rays of the sun, the spectacle before us was truly divine, and it was such a humbling experience for us.

Here is a list of places to visit in Pelling that is sure to be useful to you, however you can script your own Pelling trip.

• Pemayangtse Monastery, a beautiful and serene Buddhist monastery dating to the 17th century, and the oldest in Sikkim
• Khecheopalri Lake, originally known as Kha-Chot-Palri (meaning the heaven of Padmasambhava), is a sacred Lake for both Buddhists and Hindus, which is believed to be a wish-fulfilling lake
• Kanchenjunga Falls, an enchanting waterfall which is about 100 feet high and originating from Mount Kanchenjunga
• Sanga Choeling Monastery, a place with panoramic views, this Buddhist Monastery of the Nyingma Sect was built in 1697 and is an important point in the Buddhist circuit of Sikkim
• Rabdentse Ruins, the ruins of the former capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim, where the ruins of the Palace and some Chortens can be seen
• Singshore Suspension Bridge, it is the highest bridge in Sikkim and connects two gorges, at a height of about 100 metres, it spans over a length of about 200 metres

Where To Stay In Pelling – Best Time To Visit Pelling

There are several hotels to choose from,  in Pelling; to suit one’s budget. We stayed at Hotel De Regency, a clean and comfortable hotel with an excellent view of the Kanchenjunga Mountain ranges from our room.

We pretty much had the Hotel and indeed the place to ourselves. The hotel served good food and was spick and span.

One can go for long walks and marvel at the greenery and cool climes, the view of the Kanchenjunga Mountain ranges always keeps you company.

Is Pelling Worth Visiting | Pelling Temperature

Pelling is definitely worth visiting and spending some quality time with your dear ones. It is one of those few hill stations that is not overrun with tourists and still retains its pristine nature. In terms of climate, Pelling temperatures are very comfortable during the summer months and the maximum would be in the range of  25 to 27 degrees. Hence it is a great place to get away from the sultry plains in the summer months.
