Come November, there is a nip in the air and the atmosphere assumes a festive tinge with the promise of Christmas hanging tantalizingly in the air. This is the month that also sees preparations in full swing for Christmas. What is Christmas without the iconic Christmas Cakes? Cake Mixing ceremonies rule the roost as young and old engage in this mesmerizing ritual.

A ritual that can be traced back to the 17th century Cake Mixing used to mark the advent of the harvesting season. Freshly harvested fruits and nuts were used in the Cake Mixing. Wishes were made for the new year and the mix was actually saved for the next year as a harbinger of good fortune and a fruitful harvest the next year also.

Cake Mixing used to be a family affair before it evolved into a community event. The ceremony is not only meant for mixing the ingredients like fruits, nuts, etc., with liquor and wine so that the mix develops aroma and taste, but is also an occasion for camaraderie and spreading good cheer. It heralds the beginning of the festival season and the beginning of celebrations all around.

We were delighted to be part of the Cake Mixing Ceremony at Plaza Premium Lounge Bengaluru at the Bangalore International Airport. The event was organized and celebrated with lots of fun and gaiety. Exotic fragrance of cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves engulfed the lounge as bloggers, media persons, and the management team of Plaza Premium Group rolled up their sleeves to be a part of the delightful cake mixing ceremony.
