5 Romantic Places In India
Romance is like the fragrance of myriad flowers, a feeling that can only be experienced and not explained. Though romance lies in the hearts of those under its thrall, places to seem to exude the aura of romance. There are many romantic places in India that are sure to kindle the embers of romance into a raging fire. The very air of that blows across these places seems to whisper romantic messages that seem to catalyze romance. These romantic places in India stretch from the northern to the southern and from the eastern to the western extremities of the country. These vie with each other to be the best romantic places in India. Though there are many enchanting places that seem to be hand-crafted for an Indian honeymoon and are as good if not better than places in Switzerland, France, or Italy, we list below 5 gems that are among the most romantic places in India.
Pelling – Romancing The Kanchenjunga
You draw the curtains and are awestruck at what you behold beyond the window of your hotel room. In the distance rise silver capped mountains of the Kanchenjunga ranges as if in obeisance to the sky. The first rays of the sun caress the slopes of the mountains to create an effect that you would normally see inside a kaleidoscope. You watch this spectacle of nature hand in hand, words become redundant as the magic and romance of the moment leave you stupefied. This then is Pelling, a pristine place nestled in the foothills of the Himalayan mountain ranges in the state of Sikkim. A place that offers the serenity and calm sought out by any romantic couple. Pelling and its vicinity is a haven for nature lovers with cascading waterfalls, ethereal lakes, and tranquil monasteries providing the ideal backdrop for a dream holiday straight out of one of the many romantic movies of Bollywood. For us, Pelling remains one of our favorite romantic places in India.
Mechuka – Romance In The Himalayan Air
Mechuka is a place that seems to exist far away, even beyond the reaches of imagination. A place where the chill Himalayan air hums a mystical tone and the clouds caress your face as if with a magic wand. Love seems to pervade the entire valley in which the picturesque town of Mechuka is ensconced. Romance blooms over hot cups of black tea shared as you sit in front of a blazing fire and romantic songs spring to the lips unbidden. Mechuka is indeed one of the most pristine and romantic places of India and also one of the most well-kept secrets of Arunachal Pradesh.
Kodaikanal – Gift Of Romance
Kodaikanal is known as the gift of the forest. It can also be rightly said that it is a gift of romance. The place is indeed the stuff that romantic dreams are made of. Though the main center of Kodaikanal may be a bit crowded, there are many serene locales in the vicinity of Kodaikanal that are the most picturesque and romantic places in India. Places that are ideal to talk about in Valentine’s day messages. One secret and romantic place is a lake deep in the forests that dot Kodaikanal. The lake can be accessed only with permission from the forest department and it is most likely to be completely devoid of people. As you sit by the placid and emerald waters of the lake, silence reigns supreme and romance weaves its irresistible magic.
Alapuzzah – Romancing The Backwaters
You watch the sun slowly sinking into the western horizon as you laze on the deck of a houseboat. A Brahminy kite swoops down gracefully gliding over the water and vanishes, all in the twinkling of an eye. The stillness of the evening is smitten only by the sounds of the boat and the beating of your hearts. The elements of nature seem to have conspired to set the tone for the making of a romantic evening. This is Alapuzzah aka Alleppey, a place that seems lovingly made by God’s own hands in God’s own country, Kerala. A place that orchestrates the romance of nature and nurtures the love of the most pristine kind. Alapuzzah and its waterways make it one of the most sought after romantic places in India. A place to head for when on a honeymoon or to spend quality time with your loved one on Valentine’s Day.
Cherai – Romance of The Surf And Sand
A place not far from the bustling city of Kochi is Cherai. It is a place that seems to be the confluence of the sea, sand, and the backwaters. The sea and its fathomless aura of romance beckon on one side while the poetic charm of the backwaters enchants on the other. An early morning boat cruise on the backwaters is an experience that goes beyond a poet’s imagination of romance and touches the heart to its core. What better place for the confluence of hearts than the meeting point of the sun, sand, surf, and the backwaters. Romance rises to a crescendo as you watch the waves of the Arabian Sea rising and crashing to the accompaniment of the swaying of palm trees. Cherai is a romantic getaway to head to for an experience that rises above the ordinary. Cherai is another place that is underrated and is one of the most romantic places in India.
These are some of the places that we think are the most romantic places in India. Places where the whiff of love and romance hangs heavily in the air. Needless to say, there are many others which are as romantic, as beautiful, and probably even more than these. Which place do you rate as the most romantic place in India?
