The impressive building which today is the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa must have witnessed the making of history, with the building of the KRS (Krishna Raja Sagar), construction of which began in 1911 and was completed in 1931.

Hotel Overlooking The Brindavan Gardens
The magnificent columns of what is the hotel today must have been privy to the conversations that the Mysore Maharaja Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV must have had with the then Chief Engineer of Mysore, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, as the KRS Dam took shape. We were honoured to stay at this historic hotel while on the Discover Mysuru programme, and here is our experience of our stay at this heritage hotel.
Heritage Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa
“This was built by Maharaja Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV about 100 years ago. Initially, it was built as a place where the King could stay and supervise the construction of the KRS dam,” said TJ, GM of Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa, during a tete-a-tete with us. He also informed us that the hotel was the venue of many historic meetings, as many dignitaries used to visit during the British era.
Incredible Location of Royal Orchid Brindavan Gardens Hotel
The Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa is situated in an unbelievable location. When you wake up, you can go for a morning walk or jog in the famous Brindavan Gardens of Mysuru. The palatial hotel nestles close to the Brindavan Gardens, giving you a ringside view of the beautiful garden and the KRS Dam. The hotel is also strategically located, giving easy access to the must-visit places in Mysuru, Srirangapatna, and other places.
Accommodation At Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Hotel Mysore
We were blown away by its vintage charm as soon as we stepped into our room at the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa. It evoked the vibes of a royal era now lost in the whirlpool of time. The spacious room opened onto a large sit-out where one could laze on the large armchair gazing at the beauty of the famed Brindavan Gardens in the distance. A four-poster bed completed the picture of vintage luxury. We stayed in the King Room at the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa.
The hotel has a total of 24 luxury rooms, that include King Rooms and Queen Rooms. The King Rooms are very spacious with a large area of 615 sq feet. There is a huge double bed in the centre, and mood lighting is provided by an array of nice-looking lamps. Wooden flooring, coupled with oversized chairs with comfortable cushions, and a study table, add to the the vintage aura.
The room is a fusion of vintage class and contemporary luxury and is equipped with standard room amenities like Tea/Coffee Maker, Television, Mini Bar, Electronic Safe, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The bathrooms too are spacious and equipped with a bathtub and required toiletries.
The Queen Rooms have all the amenities that are available in the King Rooms, they are a little smaller and equipped with a smaller bed. The Queen Rooms have an area of 340 sq feet.
Amenities in Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysuru
The hotel has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool, located in the lush green surroundings of a nicely landscaped garden. A giant chessboard adds a dramatic touch to the garden. The hotel also has a Spa for rejuvenation and a fitness centre. The hotel also provides complimentary bicycles if you want to go for a ride in the lovely environs of the hotel and Brindavan Gardens. The hotel also arranges a nature walk in the mornings to give guests an orientation of the flora of Brindavan Gardens. An entertainment zone ensures that kids are kept engaged and happy.
The hotel has the KRS Hall where small meetings and get-togethers can be hosted. The garden also makes for a nice location to hold small celebrations and events including Birthday Parties, Engagement Parties, etc.
Dining In Royal Orchid Hotel Brindavan Garden
We found the food served at the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa nice and tasty. The main restaurant of the hotel is CK’s, which serves multi-cuisine fare and includes local and Pan-Indian delicacies.
A charming Coffee Shop aptly named Garden Cafe is a great place to relax and have casual conversations over coffee or other beverages and snacks while enjoying enchanting views of the Brindavan Gardens.
If you want to have a more heady experience while at the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa, all you need to do is head to the Elephant Bar, an elegant and cool place to let your hair down and unwind while enjoying the views of the Brindavan Gardens.

We found the service at the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Palace & Spa welcoming and courteous and done with smiles. The staff went all out to welcome us and make us feel at home. The vibes of the hotel are such that guests including us, would want to return again and again.
