The ruins of Hampi possess an enduring charm that ensnares and captivates you and ensures that you return to its fold again and again. Thus like puppets drawn by the strings of Karma, we traveled again to one of our favorite destinations, and this time we stayed in the best place to stay in Hampi, the Hyatt Place Hampi.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Our visit this time though was different from our earlier sojourns. We flew from our home city of Bangalore to a place called Torangallu which is just 36 kilometers away from the ruins of Hampi. One can fly so near to Hampi, thanks to the daily flights operated from Bangalore and Hyderabad by TruJet. A short flight and we landed at the Jindal Vidyanagar Airport in Torangallu and within minutes we had checked in to one of the best places to stay in Hampi, the Hyatt Place Hampi.

The Hyatt Place Hampi is located within a kilometer of the Jindal Vijaynagar Airport. It is located within the sprawling and green campus of the Vidyanagar Township in Torangallu. We loved checking in to our room so quickly after alighting from our flight. The location of the Hyatt Place Hampi is one of the many reasons why we consider it to be the best place to stay in Hampi. A lot of time is saved in commuting to and from the airport and this is sure to enhance the experience of your Hampi stay. Hyatt Place Hampi is the best place to stay and the most convenient one for the luxury traveler to Hampi.

Hyatt Place Hampi – Strategic And Beautiful Location

Within just a few minutes of landing at the Jindal Vidyanagar Airport, we drove into the Hyatt Place Hampi.

You can actually walk down from the airport to Hyatt Place Hampi if you are not carrying baggage or are in the mood for a brisk walk amidst lush greenery!

The hotel is ensconced in the midst of verdant surroundings. Shining treelined roads lead to it. We were enveloped with feelings of coming home as we drove into the hotel. These feelings were later proved to be true, given the warmth and hospitality displayed by each and everyone with whom we interacted at the hotel. The hotel bowled us over even before we crossed its threshold with its strategic and beautiful location. After all who doesn’t want to check in to your hotel quickly after landing? The serenity that surrounded the place was a welcome break to us from the ceaseless cacophony of the urban jungle that we had flown in from.

Easy Checkin At Hyatt Place Hampi

Smiling faces and helping hands and within minutes we had checked in to the Hyatt Place Hampi. We followed our luggage to our room looking around at the lobby and the corridors that echoed elegance that is so typical of the Hyatt brand name. Hyatt Hotel Hampi too was in the same mould of elegant interiors as other Hyatt hotels that we had stayed in.

Our Room At Hyatt Hampi

We fell in love with our room as soon as we entered it. We loved the subdued pastel colors of the room that heightened the sense of serene calm that the greenery outside had already instilled in us. A nice and cozy bed stood in the center with a color photograph of the rocks of Hampi as the sole decorative piece on the wall.

A long rectangular side table served as a work station and also housed the huge 40″ LED TV. A small and well-stocked refrigerator, as well as a coffee maker, added utilitarian value to the place. The room was very spacious and also had a sleeper sofa and a table where one could lounge with a cup of hot coffee or tea. The room looked out onto the green grounds of the hotel and as we pulled the curtains back, the room was lit by the golden light of the setting sun.

Hyatt Place Hampi offers modern and luxurious rooms with tastefully designed interiors, they have 115 rooms are categorized based on room size and other parameters. These include rooms with outdoor plunge pools and suites. There is the King Suite that comes with 63.5 square meters of space and has a luxurious kingsize bed.

The Large Speciality King room measures 38.75 square meters and has a plush kingsize bed. There is also a Large King Room that measures 32.15 square meters and there is a room that has the option of twin beds too. Amenities like the 40″ LED Television, Work Centre, Coffee/Tea Maker, Electronic Safe, etc., are available in all rooms.

If you are staying at a hotel for a couple of days or more, the quality and variety of food are very important. Hyatt Place Hampi did not disappoint us here, in fact, we were stumped for choices as we stared at the huge array of items from different cuisines.

Probably this would have been the kind of spread that would have been placed in front of the Emperor of Vijayanagar! This was our imagination working overtime at the Hotel Hyatt Place Hampi, Torangallu, and why not? The breakfast spread was indeed fit for a king.

An array of fresh fruits and juices, an exotic choice of tea and other beverages, a range of dishes that spanned different cuisines including Indian food, Pan-Asian, Continental, and Local makes it difficult for one to decide on what to eat and what not to eat!

“We provide a wide variety of food for everyone”, says the affable Head Chef of Hyatt Place Hampi Abdul Wahab. This is borne out by the huge breakfast buffet spread that awaits guests every morning. The breakfast buffet is designed to cater to the needs of not only Indian visitors but also foreigners. “You name it and it is there,” says the Head Chef with a smile as we proceed towards the buffet counters.

Hyatt Place Hampi is well known for its Sunday Brunches which are theme-based, themes in the past have included  Awadhi, Bistro theme which simulates the ambience of an open-air street food cafe, etc..

Breakfast is indeed an elaborate affair at Hyatt Place Hampi as we experienced. There was a huge selection in the bakery section consisting of different types of bread and rolls, croissants, doughnuts, the works! Preferences of both vegetarians and non-vegetarians are taken care of here. For the health-conscious there is, of course, a choice of cereals and the chefs are ever willing to cobble up something healthy and tasty for you.

We were recommended a special dosa which is a signature dish of the Hotel known as HPH Dosa! No prizes for guessing that one, HPH  stands for Hyatt Place Hampi!

The HPH dosa is a healthy variant of the dosa. The normal potato stuffing that you find in Masala Dosas is replaced with a stuffing made from healthy ingredients like beet, onions, sprouts, spinach, etc.. The batter for the dosa too is made from green gram sprouts (Moong Dal in Hindi) and rice lending it immense nutritional value and also rendering it a pleasant green hue. We relished the HPH dosa which was hot and crispy and loaded with nutrients.

If you love waffles and want to have the eggless variant, then you can enjoy them at Hyatt place Hampi to your heart’s content.

If you would rather prefer traditional Indian breakfast fare, you have lots to choose from. You can enjoy hot and steaming Pooris straight off the pan or have stuffed paranthas made to order. You can stick to your standard South Indian breakfast of Idli, Vada, Upma, Masala Dosa, etc., or explore from the wide choices that are there for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

Lunch is again an elaborate buffet spread with choices from across regional, national, and international cuisines. Colorful salads, soups, and starters vie with each other for your attention. Chinese noodles rub shoulders with desi Dahi Vadas, while the humble curd rice receives an exotic makeover.

Fried rice and Zafrani pulao cast their enticing aromas while the Dal Makhani and Vegetable Biryani tease vegetarian palates with their flavors. For non-vegetarians, the signature dishes like Murg Biryani, Lamb Biryani, and a grilled local fish promise an unforgettable repast. No lunch is complete without the flavors and aromas of tantalizing desserts and Hyatt Place Hampi pulls all the stops here too. A choice of desserts ranging from pastries, brownies, mousses, cakes, macarons, Gulab Jamuns, and local payasam is there to linger with.

Dinner at Hyatt Place Hampi is not a buffet, but there is a wide à la carte menu. Again one can choose from Indian, Continental, Chinese, or Italian dishes, based on your preference.

We stayed at Hyatt Place Hampi for 4 nights and 5 days. We visited the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hampi on two days. We booked a car through the travel desk at the hotel itself for both days and went off on our exploration of Hampi immediately after a hearty breakfast. The car was comfortable and the driver knowledgeable about the local terrain and very helpful. It was a very convenient way of exploring the place and our best experience to date. The rates for the car too are very reasonable and this is a safe and convenient way to explore Hampi.

The raison d’être for most people visiting Hampi and staying at the Hyatt Place Hampi would be a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hampi.
