The Shivanasamudra Falls are actually two waterfalls named Ganganachukki and Bharachukki that are separated by a distance of about 1 kilometre. The Shivanasamudra falls are located in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka and cascade from a height of 98 metres (320 feet).

It is interesting to note that Shivanasamudra is the site of Asia’s first Hydroelectric power plant that was set up way back in 1902. There are some ancient temples at Shivanasamudra including the Sri Ranganthaswamy temple which is part of the triad of temples to Vishnu on the banks of the river Kaveri.
