The location of Devbagh Resort in Karwar is definitely one of the most picturesque and dramatic of all the Jungle Lodges & Resorts. The resort is located off the coast of Karwar in the Arabian Sea and has all the appearance of an island. However, we learned that the resort is actually situated on a peninsular stretch of land in the sea.

From the Jungle Lodges & Resorts office in Karwar, you have to board a boat that takes you to the Devbagh Beach Resort in the midst of the Arabian Sea. It is a 10-15 minute boat ride to the jetty of the Devbagh Beach Resort. The resort stretches across what looks like an island and the bridge over the river Kali is visible in the distance.

A stay at the Devbagh Beach Resort guarantees a complete holiday experience. From waking up to the sounds of the sea and the birds that inhabit the region to a divine sunrise over the Kali river bridge to watching a spectacular sunset, the day is an exhilarating melange of experiences.

We were welcomed with cool and colourful glasses of Kokum Juice at the Jungle Lodges & Resorts Office in Karwar, after which we boarded the boat for our journey towards the Devbagh Beach Resort.

However, before proceeding towards the resort we went on a brief tour of the Mangroves that have been formed where the salty water of the Arabian Sea blends with the sweet water of the Kali river.

It was a unique experience to visit the mangroves near a small island known as Kalika Matha Island.

There is a small temple to Goddess Kali on the island and a vice wooden walkway that takes you close to the mangroves. We had a naturalist from the resort accompany us who helped demystify the mangroves for us.

After enjoying ourselves at the Mangroves we sailed to the resort. A comfortable wooden cottage awaited us and after freshening up it was time to hit the beach. The spotless sands of the Devbagh Beach Resort stretched enticingly in front of us as we relaxed in a beach shack with refreshing drinks.

Soon the entire beach was bathed in a golden hue as the sun started disappearing behind a small hill in the middle of the Arabian Sea.

It was one of the most spectacular sunsets that one could have wished for.

Once the sun went down it was time for a session of cooking on the beach led by the Executive Sous Chef of Jungle Lodges & Resorts, Nischin Nayan. As the stars lit up the dark sky, the waves of the Arabian Sea joined in a celebration of nature on the sands of the Devbagh Beach Resort.
