The road is made up of a series of hanging bridges hugging the rugged headlands of the colorful coastal escarpments, falling into the ever-blue waters. Then sit back and relax as the cliffs keep on coming and the water continues to follow.

Along the way, be sure to stop in at one of the many swimming spots, including those in the Royal National Park like Wattamolla and Garie Beach. Eat a wholesome lunch at one of the organic, local cafes of Austinmer, then onto the Budderoo National Park’s Minnamurra Falls. If you get the tickle for adventure along the way, there’s the opportunity to go horse riding, parachuting or hang-gliding at the historic Bald Hill, in Stanwell Tops.

This coastal drive hits a climax once you reach the famous Sea Cliff Bridge. This amazing man-made suspension bridge road twists and turns as it spans over the water’s edge, delighting you with panoramic views from Coalcliff to Clifton.

Road Trips in NSW Area – Darling River Run

The famous Darling River is Australia’s longest river spanning the red dirt of Outback NSW. The 730-kilometer journey begins in black opal country, Lightning Ridge and heads down to Wentworth, before meeting up with the South’s Murray River.

From here, meander down to Broken Hill, past the White Cliffs – the origins of Australia’s opal mining boom back in the 1800’s. Then onto Australia’s most renowned mining town. The stunning red sandhills of Broken Hill will have you in awe of outback NSW.

From sandhills to lakes, head down to the Menindee Lakes Region to witness the Darling’s first European settlement. The lakes are ephemeral depending on rainfall, but some of the most captivating sunsets are often caught here amongst the abundance of birdlife.

Finish your journey at the Mungo National Park, just outside of Wentworth. This river town was once the busiest port in Australia transporting wool and other goods between NSW and Victoria, now Wentworth is home to the Murray Darling Junction. Mungo National Park has a rich Indigenous heritage, with the oldest known cremations and remains found within Mungo Lake sediments. Check out the arid landscapes of sweeping white cliffs in the Mungo National Park and inspect the iconic Walls of China.
