  1. I went jet skiing in St. Maartin once, but I can’t swim so I usually steer clear of the water. I am perfectly happy watching from the beach 🙂

  2. Oh I would totally dream of doing water sports and activities in Italy. Imagine how beautiful it would be?! I’ll have to put Hotel Caruso, Ravello, Italy on my destination list.

  3. I’ve tried swimming and kayaking but have ye to be comfortable diving. It’s really fun to play in the waters with these sports. Sometimes, it’s even more taxing than other sports.

  4. Water sports is not really my kind of thing, neither is it up the husband’s alley. That said, your post makes me want to indulge in some of those lovely-sounding sports! Thank you for this very informative and useful post. 🙂

  5. I have never done any water sports. I’ve watched quite a few but never tried myself, sounds and looks like a blast!

  6. I grew up in Southern California so it does not feel like summer without a ton of water and fun! I have never been scuba diving though, I would love to do that!

  7. I see you’ve got Kailua Kona on your list for Hawaii. But I’d also include the Molokini Crater on Maui, as I think that’s definitely near the top of my water sports/swimming list. The snorkelling was AMAZING!

  8. This year I’m doing a new watersport. It’s called SNUBA. It’s a hybrid snorkeling / scuba type deal. I am so excited as I enjoy both snorkeling and scuba diving so this should be interesting.

  9. I really want to go scuba diving or even snorkeling in the Carribean. The ocean bottom is beautiful and I want to explore it a bit more.

When we were in Mexico, we went on an excursion and they took us to a private beach. The water was so clear and you could see the bottom. Someone in our group found a starfish and our guide pulled it out of the water so that we could see it up close. It was a neat experience.

  10. WHat a wonderful reason to visit some of these exotic locations! I am especially interested in Medes Islands, Spain. Thank you for sharing!

  11. Would love to take a swim at that cave pool in Santorini Greece. I can only imagine the views! 🙂
But to tell you the truth, I’ve always loved scuba diving. Tried it in Egypt and Cuba, but never got the chance to go through with the actual training. The time might have come for a plunge or two. 😉

  12. Good list of where to do these activities. Haven’t tried scuba diving but thinking about doing a course when I get to SE Asia soon. At the moment, it would have to be swimming right now for me.

  13. I think I’d forgotten the sheer pleasure of swimming as a holiday activity until our recent trip to Thailand, we stayed at a floating camp in Cheow Lan Lake and swimming off the tent decking was magical, and we kayaked there too! I love the variety of the places you suggest for each water sport, and I do adore a swimming pool with a great view. Scuba is something we’ve only tried once or twice, and we’re not certified, but it’s something I’ve considered taking more seriously as there’s something special about sightseeing below water!

  14. These recommendations are probably for those who have the money to spend but kayaking in Vietnam and destinations like Indoneisa are great for those looking for budget travel ways to enjoy the water.

Looking forward to your next post!

  15. What a great list of water activities to try. Whenever we visit any place which is near to a water body – be it a sea beach, or a tropical destination with lakes or on a river bank – we always look forward to try one or the other of these activities. But what I like best about your article is that how well you have also put the list of places where one can best enjoy these activities

  16. There are great spots for swimming all over the world. But you have got some places for kayaking and diving bang on. May I add Adriatic sea off Croatian coast to the kayaking list. I had a fun time kayaking around Dubrovnik and Lokrum. And hope to dive at Raja Ampat some day. In India, Andaman Sea is a great spot for diving (i got my scuba certification from here).

  17. Scuba and Kayaking are on my bucket list and I’m so thankful for the list of best places you’ve shared. We tried some water sports in Bali last year, however, not Scuba and Kayaking. Hopefully I’ll enjoy these adventures on my next trip. Thanks for sharing this helpful post. 🙂

  18. Thanks for sharing these water sport activities. Really perfect to beat the heat while enjoying the beautiful beaches, kayaking or while scuba diving. Greece is one with the most beautiful beach in the world. Thanks again for sharing this comprehensive post of yours! Great list!

  19. Great list of splendid attractions you’ve gotten here! Kayaking is probably the best way to take in the sights and just do some simple workout at the same time – I’d love to try it out when I return to Milford Sound! 🙂

  20. I don’t know swimming so have not done many watersports. But definitely I would love to go for Kayaking, as it takes us through beautiful natural sights. Thanks for sharing wonderful spots which are famous for water sports and activities.

  21. That is a nice collection of spots for this water baby. Did not know about the Udaipur Oberoi but now that I do, need to check it out. On Scuba Diving, more than Bali, I would recommend Komodo. It is far more exotic. A lovely post

  22. I swim and have kayaked several times. But not in any of the places you’ve indicated. I’m bookmarking them for future reference. I’ve wanted to do Scuba diving for a long time now, but never got to it so far. Hopefully I would be able to do it sooner than later.

  23. I think laying out and working on my tan should be considered a water sport lol!! I do like swimming though, and I can’t think of a better place to do it than the Maldives. It’s one of my dream destinations!

  24. Sadly I’m actually quite afraid of the water and I cannot swim, so I don’t usually go in for any water based activities. I wish I wasn’t! I’d like to Kayak as it does look really fun, but I need to learn to swim first!
