The natural beauty of the beach Beach is enhanced by the presence of a lighthouse that stands amidst some black rocks. The original Lighthouse was built in the year 1901 by the East India Company.
The Kapu Beach lighthouse has stood majestically, towering over the rocks and the sea, guiding ships home for over a century. The Kapu lighthouse is fully operational and has a powerful lamp that has a range of 24 nautical miles. The light which flashes every 20 seconds guides ships and warns them of rocks in their path.
The original lighthouse was painted black and white in 1935, and that is how the lighthouse looks today. It has black and blue stripes that are broad, and if you stretch your imagination a little, it does look like a portion of a chessboard.
