The biggest and best gift we can gives to our mothers is to share our time and experiences with them. those memories will last forever.
This is such a lovely idea! I bet it is amazing travelling with your Mum when you are older and you can see things from a different perspective from when you were young.
So many wonder, beautiful places to visit in India! My husband’s family is from India but we have yet to visit as a family (he use to go a lot as a child). This is a great list for when we travel to India. Unfortunately, my mom is no longer living but my daughter would love this.
These are all such lovely places. I’d be happy to travel with my Mom! When the kids are older I hope to do this more often.
I am all about the experience gifts. I would rather travel than get anything anyways.
All of these look like amazing and beautiful places to visit. I would love to visit St. Mary’s Island.
I love it! Experience will always be better than material things! I think this is perfect! It’s definitely something that people should consider getting their moms.
My Mom passed away many years ago but I would have loved the opportunity to travel with her. That would have been so much fun!!
A great way to treat your mom would be to plan a vacation for her to see something new. These places are all so lovely, they’re wonderful suggestions!
My mother passed away 10 years ago. She loved to travel amd woyld have loved visiting any of these places.
What a great collection of places to take your mother!
Alleppey and all its houseboats intrigue me. This makes me wish I lived closer and we could do something together. The last time we went on a vacation together was to Niagra Falls, and that was over ten years ago.
Experiences are so important! Giving the gift of an experience is something the person will treasure for a lifetime!
A trip to Bodh Gaya would be a perfect place to go with my mother on Mother’s Day. It seems so deeply spiritual and symbolic. I would hope that we could work through all of the insignificant details of life and get to a deeper connection with such a trip. Maybe not full enlightenment but at least understanding one another for the amazing creatures that we are.
Travelling with your mother would be a great mother’s day gift. I know that my mum would love many of the places you’ve suggested here.
My mom didn’t like travelling much but I think it’s the best reason why I should take her.To show her all these lovely places.
What a great idea! I would love to gift an experience if my mom was still around. Maybe my kiddos and hubby would do this for me!
The Taj Mahal would have been my choice but perhaps it’s better for an anniversary or Valentine’s Day! But I already have my gifts: new glasses from my hubby and new swimsuit from my daughters!
I would have loved to travel more with my Nana before she passed. She always wanted to go to Hawaii.
Wow, that is such a beautiful place to visit and explore I really can not believe I haven’t heard of it before!
The gift of travel … a wonderful thing. But for a child, I think to be able to travel with your mum, or dad is truly a gift received, not given. Memories that will last a lifetime, long after one’s parents have departed.
You’ve picked such a diverse range of places to visit here, and not just with your mother, would suit all types of travel. I’ve not yet been to India but it’s on the list. I think my mum would prefer the beach’s more than anything haha
These are great places. I travel with my mom a good amount. Love the memories.
So wonderful that you tied in with the Mother’s Day theme as my Mother’s birthday is so close to Mother’s Day, I brought her to Sri Lanka this year and had a great time! Thanks for so many ideas in India and maybe next year, I will bring her there, (as long as she is still able and up for it, as she may not be able to handle too much walking now…) @ knycx.journeying
Love this! One of my goals is to take my mother on an international trip once she retires (next year. YAY!) and these are some great ideas to start thinking and planning.
Make me miss my mom! What a great list of places to travel to. I have plans to do all of these 🙂 The list of gifts too is such a thoughtful one. Great post. I like how you backlinked all your previous posts.
I really miss my mom, travelling with your mom was one of the happy moments I hope I can experience this someday
An impressive list of fabulous places to explore in India! And something for all expectations for sure. To discover on Mother’s Day but also any other day of the year!
These are such fun ideas! I’d love to take my mom to Varanasi, as I’ve never seen it before. I also imagine a nice beach vacation in Goa would be nice.
A trip is such a lovely idea for a birthday. Collect memories not objects. My mum passed away a few years ago. I can remember all our trips together and none of the gifts.
I travel with my mom a good amount. Love making the memories. Her father was from India so we definitely need to get there. I already see some places to check out.
So many wonderful places to travel with mom. Indeed, it’s about the experiences and shared memories together and not the “stuff”. I’m really intrigued by India, but I’m not sure my mom would be keen on it. Hampi looks wonderful! Great selection here.
My mom and I try to take a trip together regularly. When I still lived in the US, we would usually meet up in NYC for an annual getaway together. Now I make her meet me and we’ve gone to the Bahamas, Nashville, Antigua and she’s come to visit me in France several times. She’s actually coming in just a few weeks and we’ll celebrate Mother’s Day belated.
Amazing places to see! Since my mom loves nature, she would probably prefer going to Goa and Darjeeling. I’ve never really traveled out of the country with her but I’d love to go with her someday
I love your ideas! As a mom of 2 little ones, I’d rather they buy me tickets and let me escape all by myself once :)) Out of all of these, Darjeeling would be my top choice.
There really is a spot for every mum there. I think mine would have loved Karwar, where she could sit and paint amidst all that serene beauty. And she would have reminded me of the time when I was a small child, and she took me outside to point out that there was no gap between sea and sky in nature, as I had left that white space in my painting that children so often do. Lovely memories, thanks for bringing that back.
There are endless ideas for a trip with a mother in India, with all the diversity that we have. Alone-time with moms is one of the best gifts to give. Or she could fly solo 🙂
What an incredible list, I don’t even know where to start! I would be so happy to be treated to a trip to any of these places for Mothers Day.
After reading this post, I too thought its been a while since I went with my mother, but when I looked at the cities, I realised I have covered quite a few of those cities in Goa, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal, Punjab and Himachal with my mother. Then I felt blessed to have travelled so much with my mother and not realise it. Dudhsagar is probably my most favourite trip. I took my mother on a 15 km trek in the height of the Goan monsoon in 2014 and we came back on a goods train, with an open top ;-). Nice post! Sharing it with my friends
Amazing what a great post you did writing just about “Mom on Mother’s Day”. My mother got flowers this years like always. But!!! You remind me of better days when she was fit. Thanks for that, we did also big things together.
WOW, all of these are incredibly amazing places! I totally agree with the best gift being an experience. There’s nothing better than making memories with your loved ones 🙂
What a great list of places to visit with your mom. And why just mother’s day, moms should be made to feel special at every occasion possible, because so they are. Happy to see many of the places that I have already been to with my mom, making their way on your list like ooty, kodaikanal, mahabalipuram, hampi, Vaishnav Devi etc. And I hope we have a lot more to cover together 🙂
