What We Missed On Our Malaysia Trip
Malaysia for us has remained fairly elusive in spite of the fact that it is relatively nearer to where we stay, that is India, and traveling here is pretty much easy. We have always wanted to visit this land which in many ways fosters a unique amalgamation of different cultures of Asia. We wanted to explore the urban wonders of Kuala Lumpur, the archipelago of Langkawi, the culture of Penang, and much more. Our first and only trip to Malaysia, however, was a short one and we ended up spending a few days at Resorts World Genting only, though we had hoped to do some private tours in KL before boarding our plane, time did not permit.
Malaysia Trip – Our Must See List Of Places In Malaysia
As we glimpsed the silhouette of the Petronas twin towers as we headed to Kuala Lumpur International Airport to board our flight to India, we mentally made a list of the places that would bring us back for a Malaysia trip in the near future.
Petronas Towers In Kuala Lumpur
We want to get up close and personal to the Petronas Towers which tower over the Kuala Lumpur skyline. The silhouette that we saw on our way to the airport was tantalizing enough to prompt us to vow to ourselves to get back there on our next visit to Malaysia. The twin towers stand as a testimony to the skills and ingenuity of modern day engineering and architecture and are an iconic representation of the city.
Batu Caves In Kuala Lumpur
The Batu caves with its towering statue of the Hindu God Subrahmanya is of special interest to us. This is not only because of the religious and spiritual significance associated with the place, but also the fact that the temple is more than a 100 years old and is situated in the midst of limestone hills that are believed to be 400 million years old. This makes the Batu Caves very special for us and one of the prime reasons to head back to Kuala Lumpur again.
George Town In Penang
We have a deep interest and love for heritage, culture, art, and architecture and this is what makes George Town an irresistible attraction for us. By all accounts, it is reputed to be a veritable living museum. The heritage buildings and the rich and vibrant street art that we have seen in images on Instagram and other platforms are tantalizingly tempting. George Town in Penang is definitely a place that we would head to when we plan our itinerary for another Malaysia visit.
Cameron Highlands In Pahang
The lure of nature never fails to entice us with its mesmerizing charms. We have heard that the Cameron Highlands is Malaysia’s most loved hill station. Images of emerald tea gardens gracing the tops of undulating hills present a picture-perfect landscape. The cool climate must make it a perfect getaway to relax and commune with nature. Cameron Highlands would be our place to head to in our Malaysia trip for some rejuvenation.
Tamang Negara
Our Malaysia trip would remain incomplete if we were not to visit the amazing Tamang Negara rainforests. These rainforests are said to be about 130 million years old and hold the promise of thrilling adventure and pristine nature at the same time. We would love to trek and discover the tropical life in this rainforest reputed to be one of the oldest in the world. A stroll on the canopy walkway is sure to be an exhilarating experience just like the invigorating and pure air that would be indulging our lungs. Tamang Negara beckons to us bewitchingly and we will surely not be able to resist.
Of course, we would love to revisit Genting Highlands – Resorts World Genting again.
These are only some of the top of the mind attractions that we hope to see and experience in our next trip to Malaysia. Apart from these, we would be looking at all opportunities to have an immersive experience of the cultural tapestry that is Malaysia. We would also love to experience more of the local cuisine as well as understand more of the country’s rich and diverse heritage. Though we have traveled across the world and experienced the cultures of many religions of the world our thirst for more remains unquenched. The diverse experiences that Malaysia has to offer makes it a country that calls us to its fold again and again and we cannot resist its call.
