MOAI is the new kid on the block in the restaurant scene of Bangalore’s Jayanagar area, and it is already making waves and turning heads. It is a pure vegetarian restaurant, and though new, it is giving the veterans in its segment a run for their money with innovative decor and a novel menu. And before you scratch your head, trying to figure out what MOAI means, let us tell you that it is an abbreviation. MOAI stands for Mingle Over Artisanal Flavours.

MOAI – Trendy Vegetarian Restaurant Worth A Visit
MOAI, located in the heart of Jayanagar, is a fresh and bold statement in vegetarian dining. It is an answer to all those who thought that Vegetarian dining is boring and lacks excitement. So if your palate is tired of the same vegetarian flavours and aromas, and yearning for some adventure, albeit in the vegetarian realm, head to MOAI.
Inside MOAI Bangalore: Ambience And Vegetarian Food With A Twist
The other day, we made our way to MOAI to see whether the new restaurant lived up to the hype being generated on social media. As we stepped in and were escorted to our table by a smiling hostess, we had booked a table in advance, as it is difficult to get a place otherwise, even on a weekday, which it was. What struck us as soon as we stepped inside, actually even before we did so, was the predominant theme of green.

The restaurant itself is painted in chlorophyll green, standing on the corner of the 34th A Cross Road, on the 9th Main Road, of Jayanagar 4th Block, the restaurant blends harmoniously with the trees that flank it towards the roadside. As the traffic moves relentlessly on 9th Main Road, MOAI offers an oasis of calm to spend some time.
Inside the Moai Jayanagar Bengaluru restaurant, the green theme lingers, with artificial plants adding much-needed relief from the cacophony of a busy road outside. Walls are embellished with appropriate designs grounded in nature. The colours of the furniture and those of the uniform of the staff were also soothing to the eye. We settled down to what we thought would be a quiet lunch; we had preferred the ground floor seating, while the hotel also has seating on the first floor.
However, as fate could have it, a group of ladies took a table right behind us and our epicurean solitude was shattered by the boisterous group who had gathered for a kitty party. Of course, this was no reflection on the restaurant, and it was also too late for us to change our table, as we had already started with our lunch.

Being vegetarians, we were eager to savour the all-vegetarian Menu that MOAI had on offer, and we were excited to see how their chefs had innovated with vegetarian cooking. We leafed through the glossy menu, and the restaurant had evidently put a lot of effort into designing it.
“At MOAI, we invite you to mingle over artisanal infusions and savour moments of abundant indulgence. Our carefully created vegetarian menu blends tradition with creativity, offering dishes that are rooted in authenticity yet elevated with a fresh perspective.” This is how the MOAI menu introduces you to its food arsenal on offer.
If you prefer to start your lunch with soup, there are many choices, and each with its own twist. You can choose between Creamy Corn Soup with Kurkure Chat and Manchow Wanchow with Fried Paneer Wontons, among others. For those who swear by salads, the menu ranges from Cambodian Noodle Salad to Turkish Shepherd’s Salad. For starters, there is a wide and interesting range of artisanal chats to savour while you chat with your companions. There is the exotic-sounding Creamy Avocado Chattak Puri, Nadru Burrata Papdi Chat, Amaranth Coated Hara Bhara Kebab, Memory Lane Cheese Fondue and many others.
Our Experience At MOAI Jayanagar, Bangalore
We decided to skip the soups and salads and started with a drink consisting of a sugarcane juice base, and found it quite nice. We followed this up by ordering some starters. We ordered Aloo Cheese Khakhra Tostado, the humble Khakhra with an exotic twist; Cottage Cheese Stuffed Pockets, that burst with flavourful paneer filling; Pan Fried Paneer Satay, grilled paneer skewers; Andhra Chilli Paneer; Mumbai Cheese Chutney Sandwich, reminiscent of Mumbai street food.
Honestly, we enjoyed all the starters, except for the Mumbai Sandwich, which failed to evoke the flavours of the original Mumbai sandwich that we were expecting.
By the time we were done with the starters, we had no space for the main course, so we decided to go light on the main course. We ordered the classic Maa Ki Dal with Butter Roti. and Pizza Kulcha for a satisfying meal. We wound up our lunch with dessert, for which we opted for “Textures of Chocolate,” a nice chocolate preparation.
Review of MOAI Jayanagar – Our Thoughts
We liked the decor of the place and its general ambience. The food was also good and definitely something one should try, of course, we tried only a small part of their wide menu. The service was good. Overall, we liked the entire experience of having lunch at MOAI. Whether you are looking for a meal with the family or looking forward to catching up with a friend, MOAI makes for a nice backdrop.
